If you don’t think your staff is watching, listening and learning from you, think again.
My 9-year-old daughter…in 2005…stitched and decorated this pillow from an old pair of my jeans that were torn and no longer of use to me…or so I thought.
At the time, the Bud Light “Leon” Commercials were trending. Leon was a star athlete who spoke in the third person and seemed to be a cross between legendary baseball player Rickey Henderson and football’s Deion Sanders.
Also, at the time, I was playing in a competitive men’s baseball league alongside some former MLB players. My teammates called me Leon; probably had something to do with me being a Leo and an occasionally cocky ballplayer. My kids would come to my games and, hence, the pillow decorated with a baseball theme and the name Leon.
Anyway, lesson-learned: your kids are watching, studying and listening…and so are your teams…they study you, know your likes and dislikes, know what beliefs are; make sure you pattern the right behaviors, actions and attitudes for them.
